Trust & Wait - A Journey Through Psalm 37

A Holy Spirit-led journey journaled in November 2017:

Trust and Wait - A Journey Through Psalm 37
Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocense radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Rest in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.
— Psalm 37:3-7

Psalm 37 is an acrostic poem where the stanzas begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

Once unpacked I saw 4 commands and promises revealed:

Promises

  • Dwell/Live safely & prosper

  • Receive your heart's desires

  • Help & Justice

  • How = Patiently | Why = For God to Act

Commands

  • Trust & Do

  • Delight

  • Commit & Trust

  • Rest & Wait

Then I was led to...

But those who TRUST/WAIT for the Lord will find new strength.
— Isaiah 40:31 NLT

Isn't it interesting how some translations say "trust" in place of "wait"...trusting and waiting are thethered together. Synonymous.

To TRUST is to WAIT.
To WAIT is to TRUST
